Testimonial:
"Client-Centered"
I just want to
thank you so much for leading Donna and I through the minefield of
health insurance options. You offered a variety of plans to us,
explaining the benefits and shortcomings of each, making it easy for
us to select the plans we felt would satisfy our priorities.
With your help we were able to improve our coverage, reduce out- of-
pocket exposure and reduce our premiums. That is hard to
believe, but absolutely true.
I describe
your customer service as "client-centered" and not provider
centered. I feel we have become friends first and appreciative
clients secondly.
I will
definitely ask you to help us with future health and life insurance
needs.
Warmest
regards,
Gil

Dear
Ron,
Valentine's Day reminds us of love itself. This year, think
of something really special for that special someone. Of course, what better way to show
someone you love them than to make sure they have sufficient
insurance coverages - not exactly "romantic" but it does
convey the message, "you are important to
me."
If
you are considering additional coverage or simply want to have an
expert evaluate what you do have, please give me a
call.
Have
a great February and, by all means, take care of
yourself.
Sincerely,
Ron

Where Did Valentine's Day
Come From?
Strangely, there was no connection between
Valentine's Day and romantic love, for hundreds of years.
Instead, the day was originally a commemoration of various early
Christian martyrs, all named "Valentine."
Pope Gelasius I in 500 AD established the day to
remember the lives of these martyrs. Unfortunately, there was
so little information about them handed down through the
generations that in 1969 Pope Paul VI deleted the holiday from the
official Roman calendar of saints.
The day first became associated
with romantic love in the high middle ages. Apocryphal
stories emerged that a St. Valentine had been persecuted and
eventually interrogated by Roman emperor, Claudius II. The
emperor was so impressed with St. Valentine, he tried to persuade
him to convert to Roman paganism in order to save his life.
St. Valentine, in turn, attempted to convert the emperor to
Christianity but was executed for this effort. The story
includes the account that prior to his martyrdom, St. Valentine
healed the deathly ill daughter of one of his jailers and that on
the evening prior to his execution, he wrote a note to the girl,
signing it - "From Your Valentine."
While there is no historical
proof of any story involving a Saint Valentine, there is no denying
the reality of the impact of this special day in many
cultures. Celebrating the joy of romantic love is apparently
something many of us value.

February is American Heart
Month
Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the
United States and is a major cause of disability. The most
common heart disease in the United States is coronary heart
disease, which often appears as a heart attack. In 2009, an
estimated 785,000 Americans had a new coronary attack, and about
470,000 will have a recurrent attack. About every 25 seconds,
an American will have a coronary event, and about one every minute
will die from one.
The chance of developing
coronary heart disease can be reduced by taking steps to prevent
and control factors that put people at greater risk.
Additionally, knowing the signs and symptoms of heart attack are
crucial to the most positive outcomes after having a heart
attack. People who have survived a heart attack can also work
to reduce their risk of another heart attack or a stroke in the
future. For more information on heart disease and stroke, Click

Prevention.

Elaine's Recipe of the Month
Chocolate Covered Cherries
Ingredients:
1 jar maraschino cherries
6 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
1 cup finely chopped pecans
Directions:
Drain the cherries and pat them completely
dry. Put the semisweet chocolate into a heatproof medium
bowl. Put the bowl over a pot of simmering water. Do not let the
bowl touch the water. Turn off the heat and stir until the
chocolate is melted and smooth. Remove the bowl from the heat. Line
a sheet pan with parchment or waxed paper. Holding the cherry by
the stem, dip the bottom half of each cherry in the melted
chocolate. Twist the cherry so that the chocolate forms a
"tail" at the end. Set the cherry on the parchment paper.
Repeat with the remaining cherries. Sprinkle with finely chopped
pecans. Allow to cool or eat them right away.
Enjoy!
